It was yet another sad and somber day in Katabi Town Council as the fifth rape and murder incident was registered on Monday after the body of 27 year old Nakimuli Rose, a saloon business operator and a resident of Kitala zone was discovered naked and dumped in a plantation near her rented apartment.
According to Anatoli Ndyabajeera, the husband to the deceased disclosed that he received a call from Brian, a neighbor to the deceased informing him that the security light where the deceased was residing was still lighting and that he tried to knock on the door several times but there was no response. Anatoli told Brian to contact the deceased on her mobile phone number but there was no response. Anatoli also rung the deceased on both her Airtel and MTN lines but all was in vain as the mobile phone was switched off.
However Brian advised Anatoli to rush to the apartment because he saw a crowd gathering in a nearby plantation after news started circulating around the village that a woman had been killed and dumped in a plantation. According to Anatoli, he quickly jumped on a Boda Boda and proceeded straight to the scene where the crowd had gathered.

On seeing at the woman’s body, Anatoli realized that it was his wife Nakimuli Rose whose life had been brutally ended.
“Immediately when I saw the woman’s body, I realized that it was Rose who had been killed. I last saw her on Saturday evening between 5pm and 6pm, we joked around and I left her at the salon (Rosette Beauty Salon) which she has been running located a few meters away from her residence in Kitala trading centre. I proceeded to my other home in Kawafu and yesterday I talked to her on phone at around 7pm. We had been together for one and half years and I didn’t have kids with her”, 52 year old Anatoli who fought back tears told entebbenews.
Close neighbours who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that the deceased was returning home between 1am and 2am from a nearby bar where she drank heavily and it is suspected that is when the unidentified goons dragged her into the plantation, gang raped and murdered her in cold blood and pushed a stick into her private parts. The body of the deceased was rushed to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem.

The Entebbe Division Police Commander Godfrey Ninsiima urged the residents to work with the police to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Ninsiima urged the residents to always avail information to the Police regarding suspected criminals and wrong doers in the area. Ninsiima however blasted the local leaders mainly politicians whom he accused of interfering in their work by pressurizing them to release suspects who are known criminals in the area.
Ninsiima revealed that over 150 people have been arrested and are behind bars and that suspects from the recent four rapes and murder incidents were arrested and are in Kigo Prison.

“This is an organized crime. We have the names of the suspects but we cannot disclose them because of security reasons. We have instructed all bar operators to close at 10pm and any bar found operating beyond 10pm will be closed indefinitely. We have identified Ivan’s Bar located in Kitala as a hideout for criminals and thugs. Police already has the clues and the names of the suspects and we want to assure the general Public that Police is hunting for them. We are appealing to women and girls to be security cautious and avoid walking alone late in the night”, Ninsiima stressed.
