The Entebbe Municipality RDC Nalongo Rose Kirabira on Friday fired the Kasanje Health Centre Lab Technician identified as Laban Turyamuhika after it emerged that the medic has not been reporting for work at the health centre for several months. RDC Kirabira who held a Baraza (open forum meeting) at the Kasanje Town Council Headquarters, visited the Kasanje Health Centre and discovered that the Lab technician wasn’t on duty and to make matters worse the acting Health Centre administrators were giving lots of lame excuses for his absence. She instructed the Wakiso Deputy Chief Administration officer (CAO) Masokoyi Wasswa to appoint another Lab technician with immediate effect.
The area village health team (VHT) decried the lack of transport to carryout mobilization and sensitization in the villages. They revealed that they are unable to reach the locals in their villages due to the long distances involved. RDC Kirabira lauded the Kasanje Town Council LC1 Chairpersons who forewent their 25 percent emoluments and contributed Shs2.5m to buy bags of cement that will be used to construct a maternity block at the Health Centre.
RDC Kirabira bashed government health workers and medics who have made it a habit to steal drugs in addition to abandoning their jobs leaving the patients on God’s mercy and yet they still pocket the government salary.
She warned locals to shun politicking and making noise on less important matters and instead concentrate on cultivating their land adding that they (locals) should guard their pieces of land jealously. She banned gambling out-lets in the area and directed the police authorities to enact bye-laws banning the betting and gambling.
