Team South Africa player hendrikus stoop has revealed that his side is well prepared and ready to defend their title that they have won for a record 19 times since 1995 when the tournament was launched. Kenya lifted the trophy at the 15th Edition held in Botswana in 2010 to end South Africa’s outright dominance.
Speaking to entebbenews yesterday at the official opening ceremony Stoop indicated that his side has the requisite experience to win the 20th Edition of the Zone VI Africa Golf Championship.

“We have a nice squad that has experienced players who have had the opportunity to visit Scotland the home of Golf in the world. The team has been consistent for some time and we are ready to defend our title. We are here for business and not for fun” Stoop told entebbenews.
“It’s amazing and humbling to be participating in this prestigious championship though I had to work hard to maintain my position in the squad. This is my second appearance after last year’s championship in South Africa where we beat Zimbabwe to be crowned 2014 Champions” he said.
The 23 year old who started playing Golf at the age of 16 has won four trophies the Eastern Amateur Golf Championship, Eastern Province Open, Captain North Open and the Harfy Oppenneimer. Stoop was also impressed with the Uganda Golf Course.
“It’s a nice course though not straight forward. One has to do a lot of thinking. It’s perfect for Golfers with lower handicaps” he continued.
“Selecting national team Golfers is a very competitive process because we have so many talented players” he added.
The tournament officially tees off today at 0700hrs with the 1st round singles and the longest drive competition at 1600hrs.
