A youth group indentified as Lunyo Central Mushroom Group in Division ‘A’Entebbe Municipality was on Monday officially banned and shut down by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Nalongo Rose Kirabira after the group leader Geoffrey Kaweesa failed to account for the youth Livelihood funds that they received for their Mushroom Project. The Group leader was nabbed pants down after RDC Kirabira ambushed the place without sending any warning or alarm bells. The poor fella was quizzed and grilled after it was discovered that the Shs 3,340,000 they received for Mushroom growing had gone to waste with nothing to show it.
The poor fella oozed a lot of sweat before RDC Kirabira and several other officials after he failed to account for the cash. RDC Kirabira officially shut down the group in addition to ordering them to vomit and refund the cash. The fella claimed that the group changed to Poultry after they failed to get market for Mushrooms.
RDC Kirabira toured several government projects in the constituency to ascertain the best performing groups and Individuals who have utilized government funds well including the animals given to them. She revealed that the successful individuals will act as role models and will train different groups on their success stories. Over Shs 240m has been released for different youth projects in Entebbe Municipality but there is little to show for it.
