The burning war in the aviation industry is smelling like rotten fish with witchcraft brewing up over the top job at Entebbe airport.
This follows after the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority advertising for the job of director general after all the rot eating up the corporate government owned organisation.
We have highly established that four board members have applied for the job and these include Olive Birungi Lumonya, Tom Davis Wasswa also former marketing manager and two others we are yet to identify.
The aviation top job fell vacant when former Managing Director David Kakuba term in office expired and ended last year, June 30, 2020, then Fred Bamwesigye who was Deputy Managing Director was appointed to this office.
However we have learnt that Tom Davis Wasswa resigned from the aviation job and joined the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation based at Entebbe as one of the top authorities.
The spark of the fire stems from former board members contesting for the aviation top job with lots of dirty dozen that have costed the government owned organization.
We have highly established that top authorities at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority employees have petitioned Gen. Katumba Wamala also Works and Transport Minister, to investigate former board members who they allege were involved in a racket of syndicated corruption.
The former board members have been implicated in a letter dated to the minister over frustrating government works including getting kick-backs from suppliers and service providers before being given contracts
Some the board members have questionable intergrity and poor work culture, reads a letter to line minister.
“We salute you honorable Minister and thank you for the good work you are doing for our country. Honorable Minister we have learnt that the short listing of candidates for the position of Director General has been done. But reliable information we have picked indicate that some of people who previously worked with Civil Aviation Authority who have known questionable integrity and poor work culture have been shortlisted”,reads the letter.
Lumonya was for two terms, a CAA Board Member and while as a Board member she undermined corporate governance principles and also forced her way to do management work on many occasion for personal gains.
It’s alleged that Lumonya and another board member were accompanied by the former Corporation Secretary Sarah Sebunya for a business abroad that was meant to be done by the CAA technical Managers and their travel costed $50,000 in allowances and business class air tickets.
The IGG investigated the alleged corruption of the group that traveled to Netherlands and demanded a 10% commission of $480,000 after the business deal of the baggage handling system at Entebbe International Airport amounting USD $4,800,000.
We have highly established that the former board members got their business commission on the multi million shillings deal before the machine failing with warranty.
We have also established that the former boards(Lumonya&Wasswa) with several others including former director Kakuba awarded an advertising contract to Prime media company with a business commission for every business transaction at Entebbe airport and under mined their intergrity.
There lots of questions to that why the former boards members have been doing business their way and failing the corporate body in syndicated dealings.
