Vision Group sailed to victory at the Beach Soccer Corporate Christmas Challenge Tournament held on Saturday at Lido Beach Entebbe. Vision Group beat debutants Civil Aviation Authority Team (B) 2-1 to emerge as 2014 Beach Soccer Corporate Christmas Challenge Champions.
Mayoga Arthur and Mulindwa Ismailah netted the two goals for Vision Group while Serubiri Stephen netted the only goal for Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Shortly after being declared champions Vision Group Coach Swalley Keyi revealed his winning formula.
“As a journalist I cover beach soccer tournaments and I am also a referee. I also read several books about Beach Soccer and I am glad that I have been able to transfer all I what I read into the players” Swalley told entebbenews.
“This is the third Consecutive year Vision Group is winning the tournament after 2012 and 2013 tournaments, this has helped us to master Beach Soccer and we saw several weaknesses in our opponents which we capitalized on to win the tournament” Swalley added. Vision Group received a trophy and a cash prize of $100 for their outstanding performance.
First time participants and Runners up Civil Aviation Authority walked away with a trophy. “This is our first time participating in Beach soccer and we have managed to emerge Runners up. I believe if we continue participating in beach soccer tournaments sky will be the limit” Emma Kasanga told entebbenews.
Kasanga also expressed his gratitude towards Fred Bamwesigye Director Human Resource CAA for continuously sponsoring the team.
This year’s event attracted six corporate teams including CAA-A, CAA-B, Vision Group, Clear Media, and Teachers for Life, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC Entebbe Branch). The Tournament Sponsors and organisers included Perfect Events, Pepsi in partnership with Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA).
