The writing was clear on the wall that Entebbe select side team would face an uphill task in matching the superb squad that Azam Uganda premier league outfit, Vipers assembled for the well attended preseason friendly that was held at the Kiwafu Play Ground on Wednesday. Steven Mukwara gave his Vipers visiting side the early smile after he broke the deadlock in the first half with a superb goal. Duncan Sseninde’s second goal ensured Vipers ended the first half in the driving seat with a 2-0 goal margin.

The presence of experienced duo of Benson Andama and Abdul Hussein didn’t little to save the Entebbe Select side which swallowed three more goals in the second half courtesy of Steven Mukwara, Mujahid Burden and Wanji Pius who scored past goalie Emma Ssebagala who came in for Robert Mugisha.

The preseason friendly, among other reasons gave Vipers Portuguese tactician Miguel Dacosta the opportunity to assess and evaluate his players ahead of the 2017/18 Azam Premier League season that kicks off next week.

Vipers Director Lawrence Mulindwa graced the preseason friendly and thanked Entebbe residents for turning up in large numbers for the match.

“I’m really humbled for the support Entebbe residents have shown vipers Football Club, a team that is located in Kitende along Entebbe road, in Wakiso District and in Busiro County (Ssaza) and it is for this reason that we saw it befitting to build a home for Vipers, the St. Mary’s Stadium which was accredited by CAF and FIFA. We (vipers) are opening our doors to the people of Entebbe because we need to grow our fan base. Let’s work together for the betterment and growth of Vipers Football club”, Mulindwa stated.

And because of the sorry state in which the Kiwafu Play Ground is, Mulindwa appealed to all the Entebbe leaders to ensure that the playground is rehabilitated. Mulindwa donated a set of jerseys and five soccer balls to the Entebbe select side and officially invited the Entebbe Municipality community to the Vipers Social and merry making day at the St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Saturday and entrance will be absolutely free.

Vipers Head Coach Miguel Da Costa was happy with the result and overall performance of his players.

Meanwhile Division (B) Chairman Stanley Namayirira hailed Lawrence Mulindwa for his outstanding and philanthropic work in the sports discipline. Namayirira urged Mulindwa to engage his scouts to consider footballers from Entebbe Municipality in the Vipers team adding that Entebbe Municipality has so many talented players who aren’t getting the chance to play in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
