In a bid to foster and promote an incredible healthy living style in the country, Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) is at the fore front to encounter the bull by the horn and lead by perfect example. The sports body has launched a long term partnership with the corporate league and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to promote a healthy living campaign in different communities around the country. USPA Vice president, Ritah Aliguma, the first female vice president in the history of the body since 1975 confirmed the development that will also help to disseminate information to the entire public.
“The sports journalists in the course of the execution of their respective work are mindful about the precious value of life”. Aliguma confirmed.
Partnering with NSSF and the corporate league has been long overdue. USPA is an exemplary organization in the community. By partnering with NSSF and the corporate league to promote good health, is a dream come true which we hope will save lives. She noted.
Key among the activities lined up for the day includes; voluntary HIV/AIDS testing, blood donation and special private counseling, guidance sessions. USPA’s immediate task will take center stage during the close of the 2015 Corporate League on Sunday, 29th November 2015 at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala. The ever promising USPA football team is one of the invited teams to play in the curtain raising matches on the day. The other guest team invited is that of the Ex-internationals led by former Express and Uganda Cranes star midfielder, Fred Tamale. Both USPA and Ex-international’s teams will play curtain raising matches against the Corporate XI team. This is the first ever partnership between USPA and other corporate entities regarding healthy promotion in the country. The partnership is envisaged as a positive developmental trend and precedent that other corporate bodies, sports associations across the global divide and AIPS ought to fully endorse and wholesomely embrace.
