Two assassins identified as Robert Kalange and Andrew Kaweesi, both residents of Kannabulemu zone, in Rakai district have been jailed 30years in prison by Dr. Justice Joseph Murangira for murdering a suspected motor cycle thug by drowning him in Lake Victoria. The two were convicted by court after prosecution adduced enough evidence implicating them to murdering the late Lawrence Katuruka who was suspected to have stolen a Bajaj boxer motor cycle registration number UDM 719E belonging to Andrew Kaweesi one of the convicts.
According to prosecution, the convicts killed the deceased on 19, March, 2013 at Bussi fishing site in Wakiso district after they transported him on a boat purporting to take him to Rakai district where the motor cycle was stolen from but along the way they drowned him in deep waters of Lake Victoria where he met his creator.
In his ruling, Justice Murangira told court that the duo acted violently and to aggravate matters they wasted court’s time and therefore they deserve a severe penalty to enable them reform before awarding them a 30-year jail sentence for each of them.
