Entebbe Municipality Town Clerk Charles Magumba and traders operating in Kitooro Taxi Park on Tuesday locked horns during a meeting that was organized to pave way for the redevelopment of the Kitooro Taxi Park. The angry traders almost jumped on the Town Clerk’s throat after he revealed that the traders should begin vacating the Taxi Park as soon as possible and in good faith to pave way for it’s redevelopment. The angry traders are protesting the move after the Town clerk plus the Municipal engineer Joseph Mukiibi failing to provide them with a relocation area. It’s not yet clear when the redevelopment will start however the Municipal Authorities including Mayor Kayanja and Town Clerk Magumba have urged the traders to embrace the project because it’s for their own good and will be given first priority once the redevelopment is finished.

Mayor Kayanja revealed that Municipal Council will sign a memorandum with the traders to ensure that the redevelopment is transparent. The Municipal Engineer revealed that the Government acquired a Shs4billion loan from the World Bank under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure and Development (USMID) to redevelop the market and after the redevelopment the Taxi Park will have two floors with shops, restaurants, offices, toilets and will accommodate more traders.
The Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Rose Tumusiime urged the Municipal Authorities to be transparent and avoid causing conflicts during and after the redevelopment.
