


Hundreds of mourners broke down in tears as they bid farewell to Tycoon John Mubiru who died mysteriously after he drowned in Lake Victoria while he was returning from a business trip in Misonzi Island Kalangala to Kitubulu in Entebbe Municipality where he resides. The Association of Fishers and Lake Users (AFALU) Chairman met his death on Saturday after his newly purchased luxurious boat capsized and he drowned with no one to help him out of the water. Reliable Sources have disclosed that he was cruising himself in the boat when it capsized on him and swallowed water with no one to save his life. He was laid to rest on Tuesday in Buwaya, Kasanje at around midday.
The AFALU secretary Wilberforce Buwembe praised the deceased for transforming the fishing industry including leading the struggle to scrap Tax on the fishermen. The deceased brother Tomu Tekabatya indicated that on the fateful day the deceased insisted on cruising himself in the boat a thing that he has doesn’t done in so many years.
He was in a rush because he had a friend’s wedding to attend in Masaka the next day. The body was discovered on Monday with unspecified sums of money and taken to Mulago Mortuary for postmortem a source revealed.
Meanwhile President Museveni mourned the deceased and sent a condolence message of Shs10m that was delivered by Minister Nyombi Tembo. He was described as a purposeful man who will be missed by many. He is survived by a widow and seven kids. He owned several hostels and rental houses around Nkumba Zone and also owned 15 commercial boats. He was also a money lender.
