
After one month of residential training and hard practice in the high altitudes of Kapchorwa District, it’s all systems go for Team Uganda who will participate in the Under-18 IAAF Championships in Nairobi slated to start on July 12 and end on July 16, 2017. The 15 team contingent will be led by celebrated long distance runner Asonya Moses who also doubles as the Head coach and Team Manager. Asonya Moses will be assisted by Alex Malinga who was also played a vital role in the build-up to the Championships.
Some of the young stars who will represent Uganda include;
Joel Kiplangat (2000m), Vincent Chemutai (2000m), Kwemoi Titus Given (3000m), Kiplangat Hosea (1500m), Chepkwemoi Esther (3000m), Kiprop Daniel (1500m), Kibet Joshua (800m), Chelimo Arapsimba Oscar (3000m), Chelangat Sarah (3000m), Layeng Eric (400m), Nuwagaba Emmanuel (200m), Bekele (800m).
“It’s been one month of training and hard practice and I’m confident that we shall return home with Gold Medals. We are travelling by road to Nairobi on Monday and we expect a tough competition because it is a world event which has attracted a number of Athletes from various countries”, Coach Moses Asonya told entebbenews.
