    Rukungiri: Teenager Arrested for Killing Father

    A 19-year-old boy in Rukungiri district has been arrested by Police and four others including his mother in connection to the murder of his 63 years old father.

    Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesman identifies the suspect as Ivan Ndyabagye, a resident of Nyaruhungye cell in Bwambara Sub-County.

    Ivan is suspected to have masterminded the murder of his father, Yoram Twebaze over land disputes.

    Maate says the other four suspects including; Ezra Nuwagaba, Stanley Kisheija, Lawrence Ngabi, and the deceased’s widow Slivia Kwarija, were also arrested to help police with investigations.

    Police reveals that the deceased’s body was recovered in a eucalyptus tree plantation near the path to his home.

    “Our investigations show that the deceased was last seen at Ngabi’s residence and he was in company of Nuwagaba, and Kisheija, on Sunday September 13, 2020 at around 7pm,” said Maate

    It is alleged that the prime suspect has been conflicting his father for refusing to give him part of his land to build his own house.

    “Ndyabagye, has been demanding land from his father until Saturday (September 12, 2020) when the area local Council Chairman intervened and compelled the deceased who accepted to give his son some land as a way of de-escalating the tension between the two parties,” he explained.

    Police said they suspect the deceased to have been murdered by strangulation, but they are waiting for the post mortem report to match the facts as further investigations into the matter continue vide RRI CRB:1713/2020.
