Kawuku ‘B’ Boda Boda Stage emerged champions of the Inaugural Ronald Kalema Mayors Cup 2017 that was organized at the Nkumba ‘Kataka’ play Ground on Good Friday. Kawuku (B) defeated rivals Kasenyi Stage 2-1 in the finals to emerge victors of the Inaugural Tournament. Collin Mutesasiira and Vincent Ssuna scored for Kawuku (B) while George Kiyemba, also overall tournament top scorer with 8 goals scored the consolation goal for Kasenyi Stage. Kawuku (B) earned themselves a cow, trophy and medals while losers Kasenyi earned themselves medals, a goat and a ball.
Ronald Kalema Basamulekkere, the Katabi Town Council Chairman and event sponsor lauded all the Boda Boda Stages for gracing the Inaugural Tournament and promised to continuously work with Boda Boda riders in Katabi Town Council to promote harmony. He pledged to have the Mayors Cup held annually and revealed that this year’s Christmas he will organize another tournament.
“I would like to thank all the Boda Boda stages that have participated in the Inaugural Mayors Cup 2017. The aim of the tournament is to continuously foster a working relationship between us the local leaders and the Boda Boda fraternity. The tournament will be held annually and this year’s Christmas I’ll organize another tournament”, Kalema revealed.
All the 18 participating Boda Boda Stages in Katabi Town Council walked away with certificates.
Participating Boda Boda Stages included;
Kawuku (A), Kawuku (B), Kawafu, Abaita-Ababiri, Bulega, Mumbejja, Garuga (A), Christian, Kasabalanka, Lulongo, Big Mummy, Kabale, Jantosi, Kasenyi Road, Joyna, Bubuli, Mango and Broad way.
