The 2017/2018 Entebbe Airport stakeholders league came to a climax on Friday with Protea Hotel emerging victorious after their 2-0 win against Uganda Clearing and Forwarders Association (UCIFA) at the Airport football pitch.
Protea Hotel scored the first goal in the first half thanks to Eddie Nambafu’s superb penalty that went past UCIFA goalie Eric Ocaya. Eddie Nambafu proved his brilliance in the second half and scored Protea’s second goal after he comfortably tapped-in Daniel Sembusi’s cross from the left wing. UCIFA’s efforts to make a comeback proved futile after they failed to break up a more organized and well-coordinated Protea Hotel defence that was well supervised by left back and skipper Isaac Palumu.
Protea Hotel walked away with a set of medals, a trophy and a cow while UCIFA finished in second place and walked away with a trophy, medals and a goat. Fresh Handling who finished in third place walked away with a goat and a medal.
Eddie Nambafu walked away with the league top scorer’s accolade after he scored a total of 11 goals while Eric Ocaya earned himself the best goal keeper’s accolade after his goal keeping skills and fighting spirit enabled UCIFA to reach their first ever finals.

The Entebbe Airport Stakeholders league chairman Tom Byarugaba congratulated Protea Hotel upon their victory and awarded certificates of participation to all the teams that participated in the league. Tom Byarugaba also promised to address the league challenges so as to attract more participants.
