Renowned singer and dancer Phina Mugerwa Masanyalaze has announced the unforeseen passing of her mother, Mrs. Annet Kiwanuka.
Mrs. Kiwanuka breathed her last on Friday, 10 July 2026, after battling with health challenges linked to cancer for a long period of time.
Her death was followed by a vigil in Kawaala, where mourners converged in big numbers to express their condolences.
Among the notable figures present at the vigil were Catherine Kusasira, Big Eyestarboss, Cindy Sanyu, Ragga Dee, Yoyo, Sam Gombya, and many others.
Speaking before the camera, Cindy Sanyu and Ragga Dee expressed gratitude for the support members of the creative industry have shown Phina Mugerwa during this challenging time.
A memorial mass will be held today, Saturday, 11 July 2026, at Rubaga Cathedral starting at 1:00 PM, followed by a vigil in Jimbo Nsubule at 6:00 PM.

Mrs. Kiwanuka will thereafter be laid to rest at her eternal home on Sunday, 12 July 2026, in Jimbo Nsubule, starting at 2:00 PM.
