The father of the late former Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah; Nathan L’Okori has repeated his earlier claim that his son was poisoned despite medical reports that he died of multi organ failure, and had lived with cancer for long.

Speaking at the final send-off of Oulanyah in Omoro District on Friday, Okori said that by the time his son was flown to Seattle in the United States for treatment, he was too weak to heal.

2I am not mourning in vain. I want to state clearly, Jacob was poisoned. He told me. And he was operated. Doctors attempted to deal with the poison. The poison affected his health do badly. By the time he was flown out for treatment, he was not in position to recover. He was too weak,” Okori said.

“You the mourners, please receive information in good faith. My son has died. He is gone. We will never see him again,” he added.

It should however be noted that, the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng told mourners at State funeral at Kololo Independence Grounds on Wednesday that Oulanyah died of multi organ failure.

“The immediate cause of death of Oulanyah was multi organ failure. The heart failed, the lungs failed, the liver failed and the kidney failed. Two, there were severe multiple infections as a consequence of total bone marrow suppression,” Aceng said.

The Executive Director of Uganda Cancer Institute, Dr Jackson Orem said that Oulanyah long lived with cancer.

Meanwhile, Okori asked President Museveni to take care of what the late speaker been doing.

“The Prime Minister, the Vice President, I want Government of Uganda to know that’s Oulanyah has been taking care of people who depended on him. You have come to represent him [President Museveni]. Take my message to Head of State, Oulanyah started a lot of initiatives back home here. All of them are incomplete. Government of Uganda has started to complete the house he started.”

“Government of Uganda should complete the house that Oulanyah started.”

He added all the children of Oulanyah are of school going, and called on Government not to  abandon them but take care of them.

He further stated that Oulanyah had a law firm run by his sister Harriet Okori who worked with him, and asked Government to take care of Harriet.

“The same sister, like other sisters have children and all of them need education. Because when they are educated they add value to society. They need support. Jacob’s brother, Francis Joel Emuna has children who depended on Jacob Government should support them.”

“The Prime Minister and Vic persistent, consider the matters I have tabled before you serious,” he said.

He asked Chief Justice, Alphonse Owiny Dollo to take care of Oulanyah’s estate saying there is unscrupulous people already meddling in it to hide the files.

“I want you to save Jacob’s estate from meddlers.”

President Museveni on Wednesday promised to complete Oulanyah’s incomplete business.

“Whatever Oulanyah was doing that we can take up, we shall take up and complete,” said Museveni.
