Entebbe Ladies Open Winner (7th Edition): Irene Nakalembe 152 gross.

Entebbe’s finest lady Golfer and national team player Irene Nakalembe claimed her third Entebbe Ladies Open Title on Saturday. Nakalembe, a Handicap 05 golfer successfully defended her title after she carded a total of 152 gross from a two-day action-packed round of golf. Playing 36 holes, Nakalembe returned 74 gross on day one (Friday) and 78 gross on day two (Saturday) to emerge Entebbe Ladies Open Champion third time in a row. Her success earned her several goodies including two trophies, Golf bag, microwave and a weekend for two at the Kabalega Safari Lodges in Queen Elizabeth National park courtesy of wilderness lodges. She also earned herself sponsorship from MSL Logistics.
Nakalembe’s closest challengers Gloria Mbaguta and Eva Magala who both play for the National team finished as runners up and first runners up respectively. Playing Golf Handicap 08, Mbaguta carded 84 gross on day one and 77 Gross on day two (161 gross) to beat Eva Magala on Count back who also returned a similar score with 78 gross on day one and 83 gross on day two. Gloria Mbaguta and Eva Magala also walked away with prizes and trophies.
I would like to thank Gloria Mbaguta and Eva Magala who gave me a tough round of Golf. I’m very happy and overjoyed that I’ve now won the Entebbe Ladies Open three years in a row. To the Entebbe Club Fraternity thank you so much for the support, a jovial Nakalembe told the 19th hole gallery.
Other winners:
Tanzanian Elias Vicky’s journey to Entebbe Golf Club didn’t go to waste. Playing Golf Handicap 09, she carded 74 and 81 gross to emerge group A winner with a total of 155 Nett. Works Minister Eng. Monica Ntege finished as runners up with 156 Nett. Phoebe Chandiru topped Group B with 145 Nett. Esther Okullo emerged seniors winner (55 and above).
In the Subsidiary Men’s category Peter Tapi, Ptays Olanya and Johan Kisekulo emerged overall winners in their respective groups (A, B and C) with 65, 60 and 66 Nett.
All the winners in the different categories walked with trophies. The Entebbe Ladies Open attracted a strong field of 180 players thanks to Castle Lite who have stood with and supported Entebbe Golf Club since the tournament inception seven years ago. Britam Insurance and Wilderness Safari Lodges also partnered with Castle Lite to make the seventh Edition of the Entebbe Ladies Open a success.
Mayor Vincent Kayanja DePaul who was Chief Guest lauded the Golfers for keeping fit and healthy through playing Golf. He said that Entebbe Municipal Council will continue to stand with Entebbe Golf Club to ensure that the Golfing facility and course are preserved in order to contribute to the growth of tourism in Entebbe and Uganda.
