Mufti Ramathan Mubajje has distanced himself from a Muslim rebel faction in Entebbe led by a one Kassim Bukenya. This follows several heated meetings and finger pointing between Kassim Bukenya’s faction (Entebbe Muslim Community Limited Chairman) and Edirisa Matovu Figo’s (Entebbe Muslim County Chairman). The two groups have been involved in endless squabbles, court battles, arguments and counter-arguments over a 5.2 acre piece of land located along portal road next to Entebbe Cinema Hall.
And on Saturday the rift between the two groups took a different twist after Matovu Edirisa pinned down Kassim Bukenya the Chairman Entebbe Muslim Community faction leader and his group for conniving to defraud property Mogul Captain John Kassami. Figo revealed that Kassim Bukenya and his group had carefully crafted a deal to defraud John Kassami Shs600m over the controversial piece of land. According to Figo, Kassami jumped the trap after he was tipped off that he was dealing with crooks.
After jumping the trap, Kassami cracked a juicy deal with Figo’s group. Figo’s group has since given Kassami a portion on the land to establish Party Gardens. Figo’s group has also rented out another portion of the land that has been turned into a craft center. This angered Kassim Bukenya’s faction who claims that Figo’s group didn’t consult the Muslim fraternity before they cracked a deal with Kassami and have also revealed that according to Islam teachings it is illegal to have the craft shops erected on the controversial land.
However Figo in his defence, he revealed that the agreements between his leadership and Kassami were done in a transparent manner and all Imams and Sheikhs were involved in the decision making process.
We gave a portion on the land to Kassami to establish Party Gardens. We instructed him not to sell booze or anything that contravenes Islamic teachings and he agreed through his Aide Tom Bright. Islamic teachings only prohibit Muslims from having Crafts in their houses and Mosques. We are glad that Mufti Ramathan Mubajje has gotten to know the truth and has joined us to ensure that Muslims in Entebbe fully possess their piece of land, Figo stressed.
Meanwhile the Wakiso District Khadi Sheikh Ismail Ssebagala revealed that together with the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and Mufti Mubajje they will conduct comprehensive investigations into the matter and away forward will be provided soon.
