The Entebbe Mongers Rugby Club on Saturday held a fundraising charity run to develop their new home ground located in Busambaga Katabi in Entebbe. The fun marathon attracted close to 150 participants who braved the early morning downpour. Entebbe Municipality Mayor Kayanja Vincent DePaul, his Political assistant Michael Kakembo and Division A LCIII Chairman David Kasule Wasswa graced the event that was sponsored by Africell Telecom.
In the 10km category Etiau Rashid finished top while Victor Letaa and Morris Asiimwe finished in second and third positions respectively. In the 5km race Kwesiga Baron finished ahead of Agotre Premio, Allan Kaahwa and Denis Otim who finished in second, third and fourth positions respectively. In the 2km walk Kalinaki Umalu, Nicholas Akankwasa and Hilda Nyiraguhirwa took the first, second and third slots. The winners walked away with medals and branded Africell and Rugby Mongers T-shirts.
The mongers rugby stars are hunting for one hundred million shillings (Shs 100m) to develop the two acre piece of land that was donated to them by the Municipal council authorities. The new pitch will have lots of facilities including flood lights and a club house. The rugby stars are currently holding their home matches at Entebbe Secondary School pitch.
