Minister for Presidency Hon. Esther Mbayo has decried the skyrocketing corruption levels in Uganda. Mbayo who was speaking during the pass out of close to 700 cadres who completed the three weeks leadership ‘Mchaka Mchaka’ course at Lake Victoria School on Monday said that Uganda is full of crooked people with a deadly appetite to steal. Mbayo revealed that leaders at all levels haven’t been helpful in the fight against Corruption because many of them prefer to keep quiet as thieves dip their fingers in the national coffers and walk away with billions in tax payers money.
“It’s so absurd that leaders at all levels haven’t been helpful in the fight against corruption because many of them keep quiet as thieves dip their fingers in the national coffers and walk away with billions in tax payers money. It’s so disheartening that a group of leaders conned the president that they had started a Sacco, only to discover that the Sacco was fake”, Mbayo disclosed.
She also disclosed that Uganda’s stolen drugs and medicines have on several occasions been tracked to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Sudan. Responding to dangers of sports betting outlets, Mbayo also called on the local leaders to ban sports betting outlets in the Municipality because they have caused more harm than good including increasing robberies, thefts and crime.
Mbayo also bashed former FDC Party Flag bearer Kizza Besigye and his defiance campaign adding that it has been a total waste of time.
“Besigye and his defiance Campaign have been a total waste of time. Several reports reveal that it’s only Besigye and the top FDC leadership who benefit while their followers continue to be teargased and beaten. That’s why we as NRM Members need to bring all the opposition supporters closer”, she stressed.
