President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has delivered a powerful assurance that nobody will create chaos in Uganda, emphasizing that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government has robust infrastructure in place to ensure lasting peace and security across the nation.
Speaking at the end-of-year National Thanksgiving prayers held at State House, Entebbe, the President identified foreign-backed “parasite groups” as the primary source of conflict in Africa.
“These groups are not part of the wealth creators; they don’t care. That’s why you hear them talking of violence,” President Museveni stated on Friday, December 12, 2025, alongside the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni.

The NRM’s Stand Against Sectarianism and Division
A major theme of the President’s address was a stern caution against sectarianism, which he described as a destructive force that has ruined many African nations.
Museveni passionately called for the unwavering promotion of peace, patriotism, Pan-Africanism, and socio-economic transformation, labeling these as the essential pillars of Uganda’s continued growth and stability.
“When you come to me, and you waste my time with sectarianism of religion or tribe, nkugambirawo sitani nvako [I tell you, Satan, leave me alone],” he emphasized, highlighting his zero-tolerance policy.
He took a moment to congratulate religious leaders for forming the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), noting that its establishment was a crucial step taken after the NRM rejected the “bankruptcy of religious sectarianism.”

Driving Uganda’s Economic Growth and Wealth Creation
The President highlighted the strong foundation of Uganda’s economy, affirming that the future is “bright” and encouraging citizens to stick to core national values.
Economic Milestones and Future Outlook
“Uganda is moving at a very high rate. I think this year we shall grow at 7 percent, and when we start our oil production, we shall grow by double digits, more than 10 percent,” Museveni announced.
He underscored that the country now produces many industrial products previously imported, reinforcing the resilience and strength of the local economy.

The Parish Development Model (PDM) Intervention
In his discussion on prosperity, the President praised the government’s intervention programs, specifically citing the Parish Development Model (PDM) as a vital initiative that has helped to significantly strengthen the country’s economic standing by empowering grassroots wealth creation.
Tackling Corruption and Strengthening Service Delivery
President Museveni stressed that internal challenges, particularly corruption, continue to undermine efficient service delivery and national economic growth.
He outlined the NRM strategy for oversight, which relies on elected leaders—from the LC1 level up to Members of Parliament—to actively supervise and safeguard public funds against diversion.
“These are the ones to supervise and to watch for the interest of the population so that when the money comes into the area, it should not be diverted,” the President asserted.

Conclusion: National Prayers for Peace and Protection
First Lady Janet Museveni closed the address by leading a prayer of thanksgiving, recognizing God for the peace, freedom of worship, and the abundant natural resources that contribute to Uganda’s thriving economy.
The event, which was also attended by former Vice President Edward Ssekandi and former Premier Amama Mbabazi, saw various religious leaders offering prayers for the country, including the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, and Dr. Joseph Serwadda, who prayed for peace and guidance ahead of upcoming elections. Vice President Jessica Alupo, ministers, and members of the diplomatic corps were also in attendance.
