Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Katumba Wamala has warned all media houses against reckless reporting on the death of Internal Affairs Minister and former Chief Of Defence forces Gen. Aronda Nyakirima who passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning in Dubai enroute from South Korea where he had travelled with a team of four officials from the internal affairs ministry on official government business. The cause of death his demise is yet to be established however Gen. Katumba Wamala has urged the media to be responsible and avoid rushing into making unnecessary conclusions before a postmortem report is released by pathologists who have been dispatched to Dubai.
UPDF spokesperson has also urged the media to be responsible and respect the privacy of the family and relatives.
“I want to urge all media houses including those on social media such as face book and twitter to be responsible and avoid rushing into unnecessary conclusions. The UPDF has dispatched a team of pathologists to Dubai who will thoroughly investigate the cause of death of Gen. Aronda” Gen. Katumba stated.
Government has set up a task force, led by Defence Minister, Hon Dr Crispus Kiyonga, to coordinate all matters relating to this tragedy. Details of the arrival of the body and burial arrangements are yet to be established. Lots of tributes and mourners continue to pour in at the deceased’s home in Buziga. At the time of his death he was 56 years old and married.
