The Entebbe Municipality’s Mayor Vincent Kayanja DePaul is lucky to be alive thanks to the Almighty God who spared his life after he was involved in a bloody accident along the Entebbe Expressway on Wednesday. Mayor Kayanja who was travelling with six other occupants to Jinja to attend the DP Reunion meeting have been identified as David Kiragga (Driver), Javiira Mutaginzi, Mukasa Juma, Sseremba Vincent, Mubiru Dan including a student whom Mayor Kayanja had given a lift as she was returning to school in Mukono District.
According to different sources, the accident occurred between Midday and 1pm as they were approaching Busega along the Entebbe Expressway after the car tyre burst and the vehicle reportedly overturned and got smashed.
There were no fatalities however all the occupants were rushed to Doctor’s Hospital located in Seguku along Entebbe-Kampala Highway. Both Mayor Kayanja’s driver (Kiragga David) and the student who was heading Mukono received medical attention and were discharged. Mukasa Juma, Sseremba Vincent, Mubiru Dan and Mayor Kayanja are still receiving medical attention at the Doctor’s Hospital while Javiira Mutaginzi was transferred to Nsambya Hospital for further medical attention after he reportedly sustained a blood clot in the head.
Speaking to entebbenews on phone, Entebbe Municipality Deputy Mayor Richard Ssekyondo appealed to all Entebbe residents to pray for Mayor Kayanja and the rest for a quick recovery. Ssekyondo also disclosed that Mayor Kayanja sustained injuries on the neck.
