

The fourth Edition of the Entebbe Charity Run rolled off on Sunday with Kenyan emerging winners of the three categories 21kms, 10kms (male and female). Timothy Keino from Eldoret, Kenya emerged winner of the 21km race. His success earned him two nights at Protea Hotel with lunch and dinner inclusive. Baron Kwesiga trailed in second place.
Shortly after his victory Timothy Keino had this to say about his victory;
The route was good, I didn’t get enough stiff competition. I won the Uganda Marathon that was held in Masaka recently, I’ve participated in the Standard Chartered Bank Marathon, Kazi Marathon and the Safaricom Marathon in Kenya. Right now I’m focusing my attention on the upcoming Shanghai Marathon to be held in China next month.
In the 10km race, Kenyans Edwin Korir emerged winner in the Men’s category while 13 year old Arman Bux, a primary six pupil at Gateway Primary School in Entebbe emerged winner in the ladies category. In the 5km walk, Acio Evaline, a UWEC (Entebbe Zoo) Staff emerged winner.



All the winners in the different categories will spend two nights in protea Hotel, lunch and dinner inclusive. The fourth Edition of the Entebbe Charity Run attracted only a handful of 180 participants, a number much lower compared to the previous editions.
2015 Edition Winner Martin Sikoria missed out due to an injury that he sustained on his heel a year ago, he was only reduced to guiding the runners.
The Event organizer and Child Welfare Ministry Director Samuel Batambira congratulated all the winners and hailed all the sponsors (Jibu Water, UWEC, Protea Hotel, Gately Inn, Sports Beach Entebbe and Nakumatt for supporting and championing the marathon to help the under-privileged and disabled in Entebbe.
