
Overall winner: Kashaka Davis
Returning a total of 34 stable ford points Ugandan born and Rwanda based Golfer Dr.Kashaka Davis emerged as the overall winner at the Pepsi Independence day Golf Tournament held at the Prestigious Palm valley country and Golf Club on Thursday 9th October.
Kashaka, a Handicap 2 golfer emerged winner out of the 75 participants who took part in the 3rd Edition of the Pepsi Independence Day Golf Tourney. His success earned him an accolade and several prizes which included a 39 Inch Full HD LED TV, microwave, plastic chairs and tables from Mukwano group of companies.
“I registered one birdie score on hole 13, two double bogies and maintained par scores for the rest of the holes” a delighted Kashaka told guests.
The businessman, consultant, Secretary Rwanda Golf Union and Vice President East African Golf Federation dedicated his victory to his late mother who was laid to rest a fortnight ago.
“I have been playing golf at Palm Valley for quite some time and I was confident I was going to win this tournament because I knew the course well” a delighted Kashaka told guests.
Robinson Lutwama beat Isaac Kisembo on count back to top group A with 34 points while Jadu Patel was group B winner with 32 points. Paul Nsereko returned a total of 29 points to top group C.
Ladies
Flavia Namakula returned a total of 30 points to emerge group A winner while Asiimwe Evelyne was 1st runner up with 29 points.
Naikomba Samalie beat Groot Ans on count back to top group A with 24 points.
Proffessionals
Byamukama Vincent was overall winner with 147 gross, he beat 11 other pros. His victory earned him a sum of 12 million shillings that had been staked by the sponsors.
All the winners were awarded with accolades and different prizes that included micro-waves, gift hampers, Flat screen TV sets all courtesy of Pespi, Mukwano Group of companies, ICEA group of companies and Sheraton Uganda the event sponsors.
Meanwhile Leone Island Boss and popular artiste Dr. Jose chameleone briefly caused excitement when he stepped on Stage and performed some of his popular hits. The MC of the day was KFM D’mighty breakfast presenter Roger Mugisha
The event was attended by several high profile personalities including Dr. Martin Aliker, Dr. Maggie Kigozi, state Minister for works. John Byabagambi and several city Tycoons.
Ruth Nakabirwa the state minister for Fisheries and chief Guest at the event congratulated all the golfers who had participated in the tournament and also thanked Mr. Nzeyi the chairman palm valley and crown beverages for investing in Uganda’s sports industry.
