Actor John Segawa has confessed that he was once a pimp, a person who controls one or more girls, arranges clients for them, and takes a portion of their earnings.
John Segawa, during a YouTube interview, revealed that the reason he was speaking out was to educate young girls more about the dangers in the industry.
The actor, who is currently working on a project called Irreversible Regret, said that during the auditions, he turned down applications from younger girls because he didn’t want to introduce them to the dangerous side of art.
“I was a pimp for girls. It is very absurd that I have a show I’m working on called Irreversible Regret. I want to show the ills that are happening in our industries that have been hidden from the public; these can help our girls out there who are yearning to join the industry not to. I chased girls below 23. Some of them came crying but I told them they were not ready for the industry,” he said.
John Segawa further blamed the era of social media and smartphones as being the leading cause of moral degeneration of the current set of youths. He recalled his youthful years in theater where several girls were thrown off the rails by men who always targeted them as soon as their career started taking shape.

“Those days, girls came to the theatre with no other intentions but knew where they wanted to earn from. Most of them didn’t even last two years in the group before they could get a man to take them,” he said.
According to Segawa, Irreversible Regret is inspired by a former actress from Diamonds Production, Susan Kigula, who escaped death row in Luzira after she was accused of murdering her husband.
