Playing 36 holes, Irene Nakalembe carded 160 gross to emerge winner of the 6th Edition of the castle lite sponsored Entebbe Ladies Open Tourney. Playing Golf Handicap 05, Irene Nakalembe overcame 39 other lady players to claim her second Entebbe Ladies Open trophy. Nakalembe who faltered on day one (Friday) with an 81 gross score regained her composure on day two (Saturday) with a 79 gross score to lift her second title. She beat her closest challenger and fellow Lady National Team player Eva Magala with a two stroke lead. Magala carded 162 gross to finish 1st runner up. She thanked her sponsor Central Inn and those close to her heart for supporting ever since the tournament was launched in 2011.
I would like to thank Central Inn and those close to my heart for their unwavering support. I had a rough round of Golf on day one (Friday), I played very badly and I’ve no reason for my bad results, I was more of hacker but I’m happy that I improved on day two (Saturday) and it doesn’t matter how I won because a Champion is a champion. My competitor Eva Magala was on my neck but I edged her after I got a par on hole 17 while she got a bogey, a jovial Nakalembe told the 19th hole Gallery.
Other Winners:
Former Uganda Ladies Golf Union President Esther Okullo emerged winner of the 1st 18 gross with 87 gross while Azuba Rose won the 2nd 18 gross with 84 gross. Catherine Pavie Buttner topped group A with 149 gross while Namutebi Agnes topped group B with 142 nett. Namanda Joweria finished second runners up with 143 Nett.
National Team Player Deco Mutebi Wins Subsidiary Men’s Category;
Playing Golf Handicap 02, National Team Player Mutebi Deco excelled in the Men’s Subsidiary category. He topped Group A with a 64 Nett. Ronald Kasozi finished top in Group B 65 Nett, he beat John Muchiri on count back who settled for runners up. Patterson Greg topped group C with 61 Nett while Daniel Opwonya finished as runners up with 63 Nett.
The 6th Edition of the Castle Lite sponsored Entebbe Ladies Open attracted it’s biggest number of lady players since it’s inception six years ago. The tournament attracted 40 lady players compared to the previous edition that attracted only 24 ladies. The subsidiary men’s category attracted 125 participants.
