Dancehall singer Ziza Bafana has denied allegations suggesting that he copies the Jamaican culture and incorporates it into his music.
Being a hardcore Dancehall artist, Ziza Bafana believes he has invented his own music style that didn’t need him to copy anyone. During a TV interview, Bafana revealed he doesn’t copy Jamaicans but instead draws inspiration from them and competes with them.
Listing the artists he says have borrowed foreign dynamics and included them in their music, Ziza Bafana listed Bebe Cool, who he says went as far as copying his Gagamel label name from Buju Banton’s nickname.
“I do not copy. People like Bebe Cool have consistently emulated the Jamaican lifestyle. I’m not copying but competing with them. Those are the people who have failed to make their own legacy. If you want to do Reggae, stay there, but do not come out again and start fighting the young artists trying to make it in other genres,” he said.

Regarding his rift with Bebe Cool, Bafana stressed that the self-proclaimed Big Size has tried so hard to sabotage his career before. He says Bebe Cool, after seeing him doing better than him in the music, paid station owners to stop their presenters from playing Bafana’s music.
“I confidently talk about Bebe Cool right now because I respect him and I have learned a lot from him. But among the names I used to get that were fighting against me behind the scenes was him. In most cases, when I made programs with presenters, he paid them off not to host me. He is among the artists they kept telling me that were stopping presenters from playing my music. He always told them that he would report them to their bosses,” he said.
