The Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Rose Tumusiime has hailed National Water and sewerage Corporation (NWSC) for their excellent and outstanding service to the public. Hon. Tumusiime who was officiating at the closure of the three day performance evaluation meeting held at the Imperial Botanical Hotel hailed NWSC for their excellent customer relations and team work with the different stakeholders. She congratulated NWSC upon their achievements and tasked them to support different institutions like Entebbe General Hospital and UPE schools that are chocking on debt.
Our goal as a nation is to attain the middle income status by 2020 but we cannot attain the goal if Ugandans cannot access clean and safe water. While a wider section of the public keeps complaining about Umeme, NWSC remains a unique organization and I hope all other institutions borrow a leaf from them. Institutions like Entebbe General Hospital and several UPE Schools have challenges of off-setting their debts, it’s my appeal to NWSC management to ensure that they aren’t disconnected because water is a must have for them Hon. Tumusiime said.
She urged NWSC to continuously sensitize the public about the dangers of polluting the lake in addition to helping residents of Kigungu get clean water sources.

Meanwhile the NWSC Central Region Operations Manager Edmond Okarinon revealed that incidents of water thefts have increased and locals are polluting the lake at an alarming rate. He also noted that several homesteads are chocking on debt (arrears) and increased power outages have necessitated NWSC to use costly standby generators.
Some of the key achievements that NWSC Central region has realized from FY2014/15 to 2015/16 include;
Increased water coverage from 31 towns to 44 towns.
Laid 244 kms of water mains (extensions) and 5.9kms of sewerage while public stand pipes have been increased to 156.
