In what has continued to baffle the Police force regarding the motives of the serial killers, who have so far murdered a total of nine women in Katabi Town Council, both Katabi Town Council and Entebbe Municipality residents are now living in fear and in uncertainty with no clue to who is actually behind the murders.
Both Nalule Jalia (28 years) and another woman whose body was discovered in a bush near the road in Kitala zone on Sunday though her identity wasn’t established brought the total tally of women murdered in Katabi Town Council to nine. Nalule Jalia’s body was discovered naked and dumped on Monday in Kayiriira Forest reserve in Nkumba Central after she had gone missing since August 18, 2017. The body of the deceased according to those who saw it revealed that it was already decomposing and some body parts were missing.
“The skin had started to peel off; the breasts and the right leg were missing and a stick was found in her private parts. I cannot really tell why the body parts were missing. It has proved difficult to understand the motive of the killers”, a source that saw the body of Nalule Jalia disclosed.
The deceased had been announced as a missing person by her sister Fatuma Nasanga during a recent security meeting in Kasenyi zone that was chaired by Gen. Kayihura.

“She was residing in Mpala zone together with her sister Fatuma Nasanga and had started a brick laying project in Kayiriira zone after she returned from South Sudan a few months ago. There are no blood stains at the scenes of crime (mainly bushes and gardens) indicating perhaps the bodies are dumped there and a stick pushed into their private parts after they are killed from somewhere else”, a source disclosed.
Murders Overwhelm Police.
Despite Police’s enormous patrol and community policing efforts, the serial killers have continued to prove their professionalism. Because the mysterious killings has largely been the same right from the murder of Nansubuga Goretti in Kasenyi zone in early June, the Killers are perhaps sending a message that Police and the General public have failed to understand.
“Unlike in the Nansana murders where Police has made significant arrests and attributed the murders to ritual sacrifices, the murders in Katabi Town Council have proved to be a very big mystery. All we know it is an organized crime but their intention and motive is still puzzling us. You cannot know who their next target is”, a source in the Police force disclosed.

“Why are the killers only interested in women? Why push sticks into their private parts? And why dump them in bushes or gardens naked? These are some of the questions that we are asking ourselves. We are glad that we have got more man power from our sister forces Special Forces Command (SFC), Flying squad and army who have come onboard to assist us in dealing with this new wave of crime”, a Police Officer who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed.
“We highly suspect that these serial killers or their informers attend the community security meetings to gather information and plot their next move. We are really overwhelmed; the public is now living in fear and uncertainty because we don’t know when the serial killers will strike again. The public mainly women have continued to express their anger, bitterness and frustrations at us (Police) because of the fear that has gripped them”, a Police officer disclosed.
Meanwhile some security look-out teams have faulted the Police Force for what they described as their sluggishness in handling information brought to them.

“Some of us are volunteers working to ensure that our areas are peaceful and stable but sometimes we are frustrated by some Police officers who are sluggish when we avail them with information. One of my contacts in Kayiirira zone forest reserve, Nkumba Central where the body of Nalule Jalia was discovered informed me on Wednesday last week after he smelt something rotting; I contacted some police officers to patrol the forest reserve which they did but later informed me that they hadn’t seen anything. Some of us are really fed up because some Police officers aren’t swift enough when we avail them with information”, a volunteer on the security
Katabi Town Council Residents Decry Peter Ssematimba’s Absence.
As Katabi Town Council residents continue to comprehend and come to terms with the murders, angry women bashed the area Member of Parliament Hon. Peter Ssematimba (Busiro South Constituency) for what they described as his insensitivity and uncaring attitude.
“It is very absurd that our Area Member of Parliament Hon. Peter Ssematimba hasn’t stood with us in these trying moments. He has never appeared at a crime scene nor has he been present in the various community security meetings we have held with IGP Kale Kayihura and the Police Force. He has been so insensitive and uncaring”, one of the women who resides in Nkumba Central and also a member on the Look-out team revealed.
