    EX-MP Aspirant In Land Grabbing Scam.

    Charles Kyagaba, the former Member of Parliament aspirant for Gomba East County who lost in 2011 and 2016 parliamentary elections was on Wednesday indicted with criminal trespass, threatening violence, conspiracy to commit a felony and malicious damage to property.

    Kyagaba who is the financial controller of Democratic Party in Kampala district appeared on Wednesday before two magistrates in separate courts who charged him with four counts including criminal trespass,

    Threatening violence and causing malicious damage to property among others.

    On the count of criminal trespass, the accused appeared before Entebbe Grade one Magistrate Mastula Mulondo who read him charges leveled against him which he (Kyagaba) denied.  The accused through his Lawyers asked court for bail which court denied him before remanding him to Kigo prison till Friday 24 March, 2017 for mention of his case.

    Prosecution told court that on 6 September 2016 at Bubuli/Mpala zone in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso, Charles Kyagaba 44, a resident of Buziga zone, a Kampala suburb, allegedly encroached on a piece of land approximately 22 decimals belonging to a UPDF soldier Lt. Kendra Kayaga with intent to annoy him. It’s alleged that after grabbing the accuser’s land, the accused erected a house on the said land claiming ownership.

    On counts including Malicious damage to property, conspiracy to commit a felony and threatening violence, the accused appeared before Entebbe Chief Magistrate Mary Kaitesi Kisakye who granted him bail on these respective counts upon presenting two substantial sureties in court.

    Prosecution heard that on 1 February 2017 at Namulanda zone in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso district, the accused person connived with eight others at large armed with pangas, axes and hammers raided two banana plantations belonging to Dr. Lauben Musiime and Richard Ssembatya and cleared all the plantations down leaving no banana stem standing.

    It’s also alleged that on the fateful day, the accused with his co-accused demolished two houses belonging to Beatrice Mpamize and Fred Bukenya in addition to threatening to beat them up.

    However on these three counts, the Chief Magistrate Mary Kaitesi granted the accused Shs 2m cash bail while his sureties were granted Shs 8m non-cash bail each. The magistrate adjourned the three counts

    to 21 April 2017 for mention
