Entebbe club outshined their Kitante based Uganda Golf Club counterparts at the Inaugural Entebbe Club Vs Uganda Golf Club interclub Championship that was held at the Entebbe Golf Course on Saturday. Playing the match play format Entebbe team capitalized on their home advantage prowess to bag a total score of 18.5 points to edge hard fighting Uganda Golf Club team tallied a total score of 17.5 points.
Some of Entebbe players who easily saw off their counterparts included Alan Muhereza and Paul Katuramu pair rounding off Peter Obong and Muhammad Jezan 6/4, seasoned lady Golfer Irene Nakalembe and Bridget Basiima pair comfortably outshined Agnes Konde and Anne Abenja pair 5/4, Jude Ochieng and Alex Nkuyahanga eased past Charles Hamya and Isaac Nsereko 5/4. Former Entebbe Club Chairman Innocent Kihika paired up with Patrick Oyee to wallop Sebbaale and Daniel Basweti Pair 6/5.
Entebbe club had their fair share of defeat as lady National team players Eva Magala and Gloria Mbaguta defeated Entebbe Pair Mbiro Harriet and Maxi Byenkya 6/5. Uganda Golf Club pair Faiz Alam and John Basabose defeated Entebbe pair Kagoro Marvin and Joseph Galiwango 5/3.
Pros Finish All Square:
The first Edition of the Britam sponsored Inter-Club Championship also attracted a total of 10 professionals from both clubs.
Entebbe’s Vincent Byamukama beat Dennis Anguyo 2/1, Robert Oluba finished all square with pros Captain Deo Akope and Entebbe’s Henry Lujja lost 2/1 to Herman Mutawe while Peter Sendaula beat Bagalana Abbey 2/1. Gerald Kabuye comfortably edged Opio Silver 3/2. All the pros will share the One Million Shillings (Shs1m) that had been staked by Central Inn. Entebbe will defend their title in the return leg on April 8, 2017 at the Uganda Golf Club.
