The Entebbe Town Clerk Charles Magumba held a closed door meeting with the Kitooro market vendors on Tuesday on the relocation program following Government’s directive to redevelop the Market under the MATIP Program.
Andrew Sekagya a market vendor, who represented Kiosk owners during the meeting, revealed that they have agreed amicably with the Town clerk that by the end of June all the vendors will have vacated the market. He said that Municipal council has already allocated a relocation site where they will operate from as the Kitooro Market is being redeveloped.
“We held a meeting with the Town clerk on the Kitooro market re-development plans and we are more than ready to vacate. Municipal Council has already identified a relocation site for us but I cannot disclose the site until we sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Municipal Council on the process of vacating the Market and returning when the market is redeveloped. I hope within two weeks time we shall have got the MOU”, Sekagya revealed.

Others who attended the closed door meeting included Sarah Tamuzadde (Chairperson Vegetable section), Marijan Black (Chairman Kitooro Market), Moses Sepuuya (secretary), Abu Bukenya (Vice Chairman Kitooro Market).
