The Canterbury city council in the United Kingdom is to partner with Entebbe municipal council and five other cities.
This was revealed by the Canterbury city coordinator Soubin Anthony at a meeting at the Pulickal Hotel in Entebbe.
The business meeting was organized by Mr.Paul Kimuli also the country coordinator representing Entebbe Municipal Council.
“The partnership is designed to have different learning experiences and exchange programs in line with the sustainable development goals” said Kimuli.
Some of the meeting key high lighters included No poverty, Zero hunger, Quality education, Gender equality, Clean water, Good health, Climate change, Land policy plus others that could be of great importance in building this partnership.
This partnership is secondly to two other partnerships that have been signed before and these include the Kulmar –Sweden city partnership and the Wuhan-China partnership plus Astonia city twinning.
“The partnership will breed new learning experiences for tourism, education and other exchange program plus direct business contact” said Mr. Soubin
As Entebbe municipal council is migrating to a city status by 2023, there is need to embrace partnerships to a sustainable city and sustainable community,said Uganda coordinator.
The Uganda Chamber of Commerce representative, Mr Andrew Otage welcomed the partnership as an eye opener to critical thinking, innovation and creativity, team collaboration as communication as tools to business recovery.
The City of Canterbury is a local government district with city status in Kent, England. As well as Canterbury itself, the district extends north to the coastal towns of Whistable and Herne Bay with a population of 160,000.
