Last week on Sunday 28th September Victoria Mall in conjunction with Entebbe Sailing club held their first ever fishing classic competition. Douglas Mukwaya emerged winner out of the 46 participants who took part in the competitions. His 14.5 kgs Nile Perch fish that he managed to catch took other competitors and guests by surprise.
They kept asking him questions about how he had managed to catch fish of that size. In his response he told them that it was luck that he was able to catch fish of that size. His success earned him a trophy, internet data from smile Telecom and shopping vouchers from Nakumatt. He also won the boat prize category that had 12 boats.
In second position was Mohammed whose Nileperch weighed 8kgs, he too received a trophy, internet data and shopping vouchers from Nakumatt. In third position was Peter Dejong whose Nile perch weighed 3kgs, he also emerged winner in the junior category.
Christian Ericsson and Sian Golding won in the hidden weight category while Sacha Allard Junior had the smallest catch.
Mr. Cymon Charnley one of the event organizers revealed that the Victoria mall fishing classic competitions will be held every year and beginning next year there will be four more competitions.
All the 10 Nile perch fish that was caught was given to Entebbe Welfare Primary School for Children with special needs.
