Daniel Opwonya swung to glory at the castle lite May monthly Mug Golf tourney held at the par 71 Entebbe Golf course. Playing Golf handicap 27 Opwonya returned 69 nett to emerge overall winner beating other 112 participants who were in action on Saturday. He won on count back.
In other categories (Handicap 0-9), playing golf handicap 05 Allan Muhereza topped group A with 74 Nett while Edward Golooba finished as runners up with 76 Nett. In Group B (Handicap 10-18) Andrew Kibaya returned 69 Nett to finish top while Marin Ettienne was runners up with 72 Nett. In Group C (Handicap 19-28) Paul Katuramu returned 72 Nett to finish top whereas Tony Katamba was runners up with 73 Nett.
In the ladies category Nakalembe Irene topped Group A (0-10) with 73 Nett while Mbaguta Gloria finished as runners up with 79 Nett. In Group B (Handicap 17-36) Diana Nabukenya finished top with 71 Nett. The Guest winner was Eva Magala who returned 69 Nett winning on count back.
Mean while Entebbe Club beat Kilembe Mines Golf Club to win the Kilembe Helmet Shield. Entebbe club returned 703 Nett beating Kilembe Golf Club who returned 733 Nett.
Elsewhere three players Peter Sendaula (158 Gross), Mwehairwe Robbins (170 Gross), Nsereko Paul (184 Gross) will represent Uganda at the Windhoek Larger Africa Green Jacket Championships to be held from 18th to 20th June 2015 at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club Namibia. They emerged as winners of the respective groups A, B and C during the qualifiers that were held at Entebbe and Uganda Golf Club.
