CAA Publicist Vianney Luggya says CAA is privileged to host the 2017 Aeronautical Information Management Conference.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Uganda has been granted the privilege of hosting the first ever Global Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Conference in Africa. The conference dubbed “Global AIM KAMPALA 2017” will be held from 23rd – 25th May 2017 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. CAA was confirmed as 2017 hosts during last year’s event that was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and over 200 delegates from across the globe are expected to attend the technical conference.
The annual conference brings lead players and exhibitors of the latest trends in Aviation technology and hosting states traditionally use the platform to showcase their tourism potential to the world and Uganda is no exception in this regard.
The International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Association (IFAIMA) is a body that brings together Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) professionals and associations world over. Uganda is affiliated to IFAIMA through the Uganda Aeronautical Information services officers Association (UGAISOA) the body that brings together Aeronautical Information Management professionals in Uganda.
CAA has just completed automation of the Aeronautical information management processes at Entebbe International Airport and this has enabled the automated management of: Flight plans, Notices to airmen (NOTAM), Electronic Aeronautical information publications (eAIPs) CAA Publicist Vianney Luggya revealed in a press statement.
Vianney disclosed that the new system has led to efficiency and timely provision of accurate aeronautical information, reduction in costs incurred by air operators in updating AIPs, reduction in human errors and ubiquitously flight preparation whereby pilots and other users now enjoy the convenience to perform flight planning and self briefing.
Vietnam, Portugal, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Portugal and Argentina have hosted the annual conference.
