Katanga, who deals in general supplies, was killed at his residence in Mbuya, a Kampala suburb.
Family members suspect Hatanga was shot by his wife, with whom he had a domestic quarrel.
The couple last week gave away their daughter in marriage at a colourful event in Kashari, western Uganda.
“This is a tragedy,” said a family member who preferred anonymity to speak freely.
“Police are handling the investigation to rule out our fears that Katanga was killed by his wife.”
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga was not readily available for comment.
