Monaco knocked out three time champions Friends and Family on penalty shootouts in the quarterfinals of the Bulesa Cup to advance to the semifinals. Monaco beat Friends and Family 5-4 on penalties after 1-all draw. Friends and family’s Ivan Ssemaganda grabbed an early lead in the first half before Monaco’s Mukasa Yusuf equalized in the second half to go level. The quarterfinals resume today with Old Timers taking on B13 FC at the Kataka ground next to Nkumba University at 4:30pm. Defending champions Kabaale will take on 24/7 FC on Sunday while on Monday Come Again FC will take on Citizen FC in the last knockout match.
Elsewhere Nkumba University lost 2-1 to Lweza FC in a pre-season friendly match. Yoweri Kisakye and Kakooza Rajab were on the score sheet for Lweza while Emma Wasswa grabbed a consolation goal for Nkumba University. Nkumba had also lost to the same identical result to Lweza FC in the first leg.
