Entebbe based Masavu FC qualified for the Big League Championship after defeating Luwero United on penalties at the Kiwafu Play Ground on Sunday. Masavu beat Luwero united 5-4 on penalties after 1 all draw. Masavu’s Adama Omarion opened the score sheet with a well taken shot from Captain Charles Odeke’s brilliant pass in the 36th minute. However Katamba Hassan grabbed an equalizer for Luwero United in the 41st minute to go level with Masavu. The second half ended with neither side finding the ball into the back of the net though Masavu missed several chances that would have doubled their lead.
Captain Charles Odeke, Adama Omarion, Lawrence Bakiraze Derrick Seruwagi and Mukasa Yusuf were the penalty scorers for Masavu. Joshua Lubwama, Sentogo Zakariah, Chris Kawangulo and Goalie Eria Sentogo were the penalty scorers for Luwero United. Luwero’s Joshua Kigozi had his penalty saved by substitute Goalie Wasswa Yusuf.
Hundreds of Masavu fans cheered their team throughout the match and it was a moment of madness for the fans after Masavu was declared Champion of the Buganda Regional League walking away with a trophy, medals and certificates that were handed over by Cranes Coach Micho and assistant Frank Anyau.
“I was recruited in the mid season to guide the team join the Big League Championship, I’m happy I’ve done my part” Masavu Coach Hakim Nsimbabi told entebbenews.
