A boda rider identified as Sayid Mucunguzi, who knocked president Yoweri Museveni’s lead car at Muzinga Park near Entebbe State House has been jailed 2years in prison or alternatively pay a fine of Shs1.5m. The convict was sentenced by Entebbe Chief Magistrate Mary Kaitesi Kisakye after court found him guilty of committing the offence.
According to prosecution, on 26, April 2017 at Muzinga Park, the convict failed to stop when he heard an alarm from the president’s first lead police car and eventually he ended up colliding with the lead car. During the accident, the convict sustained severe injuries and he was rushed to Entebbe General Referral hospital where he was treated while being handcuffed.
While delivering the ruling, the magistrate expressed dismay on the increased cases of traffic offenses perpetuated by Boda Boda riders who over speed in addition to riding recklessly adding that the 2year jail Sentence would serve as an example to the rest of Boda Boda riders plus Motorists who violate traffic codes.
