National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine has said that his family’s security guard, Sharif Higenyi is still missing after he was arrested by the security on Tuesday.
Security Officials surrounded his home to stop him from going to Kayunga district to campaign for his party’s flag bearer in the Local Government Councils by-elections.
Sharif, who hails from Bududa in Eastern Uganda, Bobi Wine said, has been his domestic security personnel for the past four years, and has constantly been arrested and harassed whenever security surrounded Bobi Wine’s home.
“Like many people who I live with, work with or associate with, Sharif has been constantly arrested, harassed, and tortured. Almost each time they surround my home, he has been one of the first victims of humiliation and torture,” he said.

Even yesterday when security surrounded his home, Bobi Wine said, Sharif was arrested, and taken to an unknown location.
“And so ‘Uncle Sharif’ as our kids call him was today (yesterday Tuesday) morning yet again violently arrested, beaten up and bundled into a ‘drone’ van which took him to an unknown destination. For no reason whatsoever, the thugs jumped over the fence and took him away, after beating him mercilessly,” he said.
“We have checked at Kasangati police station but he is not there. I cannot imagine what they are doing to him now, but I pray he returns alive. These are the kinds of injustices that keep us struggling,” he added.
Police however, said yesterday that they didn’t arrest anyone from Bobi Wine.
When asked about a convoy of police vehicle including one often used to arrest suspects, which were seen speeding from Bobi Wine’s home, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said the vehicles were simply being removed from Magere, and had no detainees in them.
Bobi Wine says that Sharif first came to work for him under a private security company, adding that at any time security surrounded his home, they would disarm him and take him to the police station for as many days as they placed him (Bobi Wine) under house arrest.
In January when security surrounded Bobi Wine’s home ahead of the election, he said Sharif was arrested, beaten “very badly” and instructed his security company to transfer him.
“His crime was doing his job! This prompted him to resign because he preferred to stay at our place,” Bobi Wine added.
