Perhaps the writing was clear on the wall that Entebbe based Masavu F.C would face an uphill task in matching the experience and quality of high flying Kitende based Vipers as the two sides met in their first ever Entebbe derby at the Fisheries Football Ground on Tuesday. With Ndugwa Abram and Odeke Charles leading the attack, Masavu dominated the first few minutes in the first half as they managed to break through Vipers’ solid defence and tested goalie Isma Watenga with a number of shots on goal and free kicks but unfortunately they failed to put the ball into the back of the net.
Masavu paid a heavy price for their wasted chances as Vipers exploited the porous midfield and Milton Kaliisa fired a superb shot into the back of the net. Masavu who had now surrendered, fully opened up their defense and Steven Mukwala added a second goal for Vipers.

Masavu only have one win against Proline and have now lost to Police, Soana and Vipers. Vipers remain unbeaten with one draw against Bright Stars and three wins against SC Villa, Bul and Masavu.
“We made two mistakes that cost us the match but we shall try to improve our defensive mentality. We played against a team that has pedigree though we had seven to eight chances that we failed to utilize. The league is a marathon and I’m confident that we can work on the losses and survive relegation”, Masavu Manager Gitta Alex said during a post match briefing to the media.
“We played against a tough team which defended well but I’m glad we got the victory. We now shift our attention to the next match which will be two weeks from now”, Vipers head coach Miguel Da Costa remarked.
