The Ministry of Health on Thursday confirmed one new COVID-19 case bringing the total number of cases in the country to 101. “The COVID-19 confirmed cases are now 101 in Uganda,” announced Dr Henry Mwebesa, Director General Health Services. The confirmed case is 32-year-old Tanzanian truck driver who arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula border. The case was confirmed out of 3,091 samples of truck drivers tested on Thursday. Standard Chartered announced today that Joint Medical Store, the Ugandan not-for-profit organisation, has become the first client to make a drawdown under the Bank’s US$1 billion financing commitment to help companies tackling Covid-19. JMS’ drawdown for US$2.2m on a loan facility will help them provide healthcare facilities and supply masks, sanitisers and medicines in Uganda.
