Former Uganda Taxi Drivers and Operators Association (UTODA) chairman, Hajji Musa Katongole, has died.

Katongole, a very wealthy businessman, was last week rushed to TMR Hospital in Naalya, a Kampala suburb with breathing difficulties.

The family said Katongole had for long battled a seriously heart condition.

It all started on January 21 when Katongole failed to climb stairs of a new building in Kawempe, a Kampala suburb.

He was taken to Thailand for specialized treatment before returning to Uganda in February.

Katongole’s heart condition later deteriorated, prompting his family to rush him to TMR hospital where he was booked in the intensive care unit.

“He (Katongole) was a very hardworking businessman who contributed a lot to the development of the country and Islam in Uganda,” said Hon Latif Ssebaale on Tuesday morning.

“May Allah strengthen and comfort his family, Dr. Prince Kassim Nakibinge and the entire community,” he added.

The deceased was a close relative of Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte who also passed away recently.
