Police in Iganga are hunting for one Yakubu Isabirye, a 25-year-old chapati seller for allegedly murdering Ali Kalulu, a 30-year-old casual laborer he caught in bed with his wife. Kalulu had been a casual laborer at the home of the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO). The runner-up in the 2021 presidential election, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine has asked the Supreme Court not to subject him to costs for withdrawing his petition challenging President Museveni’s election. On Friday, the Supreme Court allowed Kyagulanyi’s application to withdraw the 2021 presidential election petition but the justices said they would give a detailed ruling plus an order for costs later. Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp has introduced a voice and video calling feature on its desktop version, the company said on Thursday. The company said users will be able to use desktop screens for calls in both portrait and landscape mode, and the calls will be end-to-end encrypted. The application by Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine to withdraw the petition challenging President Museveni’s election has taken a new twist after lawyers said they lack practicing certificates. On Monday, when the court convened to hear the application to withdraw the poll petition, Kyagulanyi’s lawyers represented by Medard Sseggona told court that their practicing certificates had expired and are yet to be renewed. “We applied to the Law Council to renew our practicing certificates and they are being processed. Former Luwero bush warfighters, top generals, among other senior officers are set to be retired by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). The retirement will take place between April and July this year, sources within security have told New Vision.
