The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has revealed government is holding talks with Facebook on how the social media giant can resume its operations in the country. “There have been all sorts of speculation in regards to why Facebook is still off,” said UCC Executive Director, Eng Irene Kaggwa Ssewankambo. “There have been discussions between Facebook and the government to see how best this service can be used in the country,” she said. Detailed credentials for more than 21 million mobile VPN app users were swiped and advertised for sale online last week, offered by a cyber thief who allegedly stole user data collected by the VPN apps themselves. The runner-up in the 2021 presidential election, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine has asked the Supreme Court not to subject him to costs for withdrawing his petition challenging President Museveni’s election.
