Aspiring Member of Parliament for Entebbe Municipality Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa has hit back at his political rival Walusimbi Abubaker who is also targeting the Entebbe Municipality Parliamentary seat. In an interview with entebbenews Mbwatekamwa revealed that the melee that characterized the Entebbe Municipality internal Democratic Party elections two weeks ago at Chang Sha Primary School was as a result of Walusimbi mobilizing hooligans to disrupt the election process. Mbwatekamwa also revealed that Walusimbi isn’t a member of any electoral college in the Democratic Party and therefore didn’t qualify to participate in the voting process to elect constituency leaders.
“Walusimbi and Sadik Mukasa mobilized hooligans who attacked us during the voting process to elect constituent leaders. Sadik grabbed the voters register claiming it was fake and that he had the genuine one in addition to threatening us. We couldn’t sit by and watch as the hooligans were attacking us and trying to block the voting process. So we acted out of self defence to protect ourselves from the hooligans” Mbwatekamwa stated.
“We elected leaders at the parish (LCII) and Sub County (LCIII) level Walusimbi didn’t take part. He only came at the LCIV Constituency level and yet he isn’t a member of any electoral college in the Democratic Party” he stressed.
Mbwatekamwa also said that Walusimbi lacks leadership qualities adding that he tried to contest on the LCI ticket in Katabi Busamaga where he resides but lost miserably. He (Mbwatekamwa) argues that if Walusimbi lost the LCI election where he resides, then that is a clear indicator that he doesn’t have support.
Commenting on Walusimbi’s Real Democrats pressure group, Mbwatekamwa stressed that it was inconsequential and it would fail.
“Forming the Real Democrats Pressure group in my own view is Walusimbi’s right though the Democratic Party leadership is not aware that there is a pressure group in Entebbe” he said.
He also dismissed RD’s internal elections adding that Walusimbi was just electing his task force ahead of the 2016 campaigns. Mbwatekamwa also described Walusimbi, MP Muhammad Kawuma and Sadik as confused confusers who are misleading the people of Entebbe Municipality.
“They claim that they are staunch DP Members but they hobnob and hold secret meetings with ruling National Resistance Movement party members. Among them include Joseph Ssesanga, Sempala Twaha, Paul Zikuliza and Michael Mutebi” he said.
He also praised his boss Mayor Kayanja DePaul whom he says has transformed the municipality unlike former Mayor Stephen Kabuye who only lived a lavish life style at the expense of the people of Entebbe Municipality.
“Museveni is proud of Kayanja than Kabuye because he has transformed the municipality and blocked all the channels that the Kabuye administration would use to misappropriate funds meant for the development of the municipality.” he continued.
“I’m warning MP Kawuma, Sadik Mukasa and Walusimbi Abubaker that we are ready to defend our rights. They shouldn’t think that they own Entebbe” he concluded.
