Appearing on 93.3 KFM Hot seat Buyanga west Constituency Member of parliament Hon. Barnabas Tinkasimiire has described the just concluded NRM Party delegates’ conference held in Namboole as a dent to democracy within the party.
‘’We saw it coming right from the time the Kyankwazi resolution was passed, a lot of money was spent to popularize Museveni’s sole candidature on the ground” Tinkasimiire noted.
He added that Museveni subsequently moved very fast to pay all the debts of the members of parliament. “President Museveni bribed Members of parliament to a tune of Shs110m while NRM Central Executive Committee members where paid shs 50m in the first meeting that was held last month” he stressed.
Tinkasimiire continues that he inquired from Mbabazi whether he had received the Shs 50m; he told him that he had been excluded.
“President Museveni who is also the chairman of the NRM brought the resolutions from CEC, NEC and read them to the delegates and the conference ended, there was no debate” he stated.

“Ugandan society is largely made up of beggars, President Museveni can toss any amount of money and people will clap for him the whole day” Tinkasimiire said.
He revealed that though he was given an invitation to attend the conference, he boycotted because alongside Sekikuubo, Mohamed Nsereko and Nuwagaba they were expelled from the party.
“I decided I’m not going to participate in a political party that will not allow me to say the views of my people” he stressed.
He continued that President Museveni made so many promises to the people of Buyaga West Constituency in Kibaale that he represents but he hasn’t fulfilled any of the seven promises that he made to them.
He campaigned on a manifesto, what has he done in my constituency? He asked. “He has done nothing, why then would I confuse my people to continue following the NRM and President Museveni” he stated.
“The NRM must be ready to implement the manifesto not merely talk” he stated. Asked about Mbabazi’s next course of action; Tinkasimiire responded that Mbabazi will mostly likely run for the position of Party Chairman where he can participate in the affairs of running the party.
“You are going to see another candidate vie for the post of party chairman in the 2015 National Delegates Conference that is going to elect the structures of the NRM” he revealed.
“If Mbabazi is expelled from the NRM, he will leave with people, he has a huge following” he stated.
Asked about whether the resolution to have the position of the secretary General appointive rather than elective would strengthen the NRM Tinkasimiire responded: “President Museveni has appointed so many people and they have disappointed him. He appoints the entire cabinet but it is one of the most corrupt in Africa”
Tinkasimiire continued that the delegates’ conference has given President Museveni what he has been yearning for but he was quick to add that it wasn’t going to be easy for him.
Meanwhile Mbabazi opened up on the amendments made at the NRM delegates’ conference saying he hadn’t been completely defeated.
“Things fall apart, but will not permanently do,” Mbabazi hit back.
Mbabazi literally lost his position of Secretary General Monday when NRM delegates at the party’s National Conference adopted and approved a series of constitutional amendments that substantially shapes direction for the country’s future political direction.
The party delegates resolved to have the position of secretary General, deputy secretary General, Treasurer and deputy Treasurer appointed by party chairman Yoweri Museveni. Sources have indicated that out of the 10,000 who were at delegates’ conference Wife to Amama Mbabazi Jacqueline Mbabazi is the only delegate who didn’t second the motion to have the position of secretary General appointive rather than elective.
